Almost 28 years ago, Janet opened
the Buttery.
With
just two small cases of high quality breads and pastries, the
Buttery has since grown to become a much-loved tradition and gathering
spot for the Santa Cruz community. The Buttery reflects Janets
passion for food and her pleasure in creating the perfect meal
to enjoy with family and friends. Janet brings more than 50 years
of culinary experience to the Buttery. As a young girl, Janet
learned to bake old world style recipes at her German grandmothers
side. Over the years, Janet has fused the best elements in California,
American, and European style baking to create the Butterys
unique offerings.
Jill is the Buttery's Lead Cake Consultant
Jill
has been with the Buttery for 9 years, and lucky for us, she still
loves doing what she does best: planning cakes for weddings and
special occasions. Jill came to Santa Cruz 25 years ago from the
San Joaquin Valley to study ceramics, which provides an intricate,
sculptural dimension to her cake designs. Jill has worked in management
at some of Santa Cruzs finest restaurants. She came to the
Buttery in 1993 and has contributed to virtually every aspect
of the bakery: retail sales, cake decorating, and team management.
Jill brings her creative flair and complete personal attention
to every consultation.
