Frequently Asked Wedding Questions

What makes your cakes special?

Our cakes taste great! We hear it over and over again from wedding professionals, couples who have used our services and of course, our loyal and local clientele. We use only fresh, natural ingredients: real butter, local eggs, vanilla from Patricia Raine, the vanilla queen, and fine chocolate. We have a design team that is well-trained and capable. They are constantly honing their skills and are up to date on all of the latest techniques and ideas.

Do I need to make an appointment for a design consultation?

We do not have in-person consultations, at your leisure, email: weddings@butterybakery.com or Fill out this form to get the process started!

At what point in the wedding planning process should I consider the cake design?

The wedding cake is the jewel of the wedding reception. This is especially true when the design is drawn from other elements of the wedding. Reach out to us when you know what colors you’ll be using, the dress detail, the feel, or theme of the event. Six to eight months in advance is usually a good lead time.

How far ahead should I book the wedding cake?

You should book when you’re sure you want us to make your cake. Some dates do book up early, so don’t wait. A deposit that is 50% of the projected cost of your cake holds your day. We will try to accommodate but at latest, please contact us at least 6 weeks before.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we deliver cakes only for order of more than 80 servings. There is a fee applied with this delivery. With locations that have steep hills or difficult drives, please let us know.

Can I pick up my own wedding cake?

Yes you can, its not that difficult as long as you’re careful! We will try our best to secure the cake in the car; however, we are not liable once the cake leaves our store. Here are some tips for transportation:

• Don't leave the cake facing direct sunlight in the car.

• Leave the A/C on high and make sure the inside of the car is not hot.

• You will need a flatbed trunk so the cake has a flat surface to rest on.

• If you're worried about the cake moving around, bring a yoga mat to place the cake on top of.

• Do not slam on the breaks will driving, this could force the cake to slide. Smooth and steady is what you're looking for.

• Do not carry the cake while only holding the sides, always have a hand in the middle of the base to support the cake.

What do your cakes cost?

Our cakes are priced per serving.  A cake that is iced with buttercream and decorated simply starts at $9 per serving.  Highly designed cakes covered with ganache, fondant, or marzipan do cost more.

When is the final payment due?

We require final payment 4 - 5 week before the event. You are welcome to pay earlier for a peace of mind.

What if I need to cancel my cake?

Any cancellations after the deposit has been made will result in a charge of $75 fee. After the final payment, cancellations will result in a charge of $250 or 50% (whichever is less). If a cancellation occurs 7 days before the event, there will be no refund.
